JKA WF European Championships 2019 - Stavanger, Norway

06 April 2019

This weekend the JKA Malta squad flew to Stavanger, Norway to compete in the JKA WF European Championships on the 6th of April 2019……………………………………………. ………………………………………

Well done to all our karate-ka’s for these past couple months of hard training and sacrifice.

Today all JKA Malta competitors gave good performances and showed great courage. Unfortunately, the results may not reflect this, as the competition was very tough.

  • Sensei Etienne Ceci Bonello lost in the Senior Men Kata Category against last year’s European champion from Hungary.
  • Being the youngest in her category, Sensei Nicole Chircop lost in the Senior Ladies Kata Category against this year’s silver medalist from Sweden, and lost in Senior Ladies Kumite Category against this year’s silver medalist from England.
  • Liane Chircop placed 6th in Europe in the Junior Ladies Kata Category.
  • Michele Lombardi competed in the Senior Men Kumite Category against one of the finalists from Russia with a very good and solid performance.
  • Junior Ladies Team Kata composed of Liane Chircop, Raquel Bemelmans, and Endria Vella placed 5th after the Norway, Sweden, Russia, and Germany teams.

Well done to everyone. JKA Malta is appreciative of Mr. Vincent Mizzi and Ms. Rebecca Catania for accompanying us during this event and helping us all the way through.

Congratulations to JKA Norway for a great and very well organized championship. Thank you to Chief Instructor of JKA Norway Sensei Geir Larsen, for being so hospitable with the JKA Malta squad. It is truly appreciated!

To all the karateka in the squad, and to those who are awaiting selection, hard training awaits you.

See you back at the dojo!!
